Do the entertainment choices of my family meet the guidelines of Philippians 4:8?

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

 

Galatians 5:13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.

Am I familiar enough with God’s word to be able to use it to protect my family?

Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

 

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NLT) All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God's way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.

 

Am I discussing with my children the values that are transmitted through my family’s entertainment choices?

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

 

1 Corinthians 2:15 The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment…

Am I plugged in and serving at a local church that will strongly support my family?

Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

 

Ephesians 4:14-16 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. 15Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. 16From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

 

Jesus, I need your help to be the best I can be. I’ve been trying to do everything on my own. I want to be living my life to please you. Thank you, Jesus, for loving me when I ignored you. In this moment, I turn from living for myself to you. I ask You to forgive me for the wrong things I've done, all of which have offended you. I want You to show me how to live.  Please take over my life and guide me.  Please, help me to live for you every moment of my life. Amen.
