“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”  Hebrews 4:12

John 14:23 – “Jesus replied, ‘If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.’”

James 1:22-27

22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves.  Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.  25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

26If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. 27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

1 John 3:18 “Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.”

James 2:14-18

14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds."  Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

James 2:26 “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.”

James 3:13 “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.”

James 4:10 “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up.”

James 4:17 “Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.”

·               We’re not living up to our full potential if we’re not serving.

·                We can’t experience the full, abundant life that God promised us through Christ if we’re not giving our time serve him.

·               We’re showing how prideful and unwilling to honor God we are if we don’t service.

Ø             If we do serve, we can live up to our full potential.

Ø             If we do serve, we will experience the full, abundant life that God promised through Christ.

Ø             If we do serve, we’re showing how humble and willing we are to honor God.

1 Corinthians 3:8 “The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.”

2 Corinthians 9:12

This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

Dear God, I want to have a real relationship with you. I realize that I have sinned and that my sin is the reason I have been separated from you.  I admit that I need you and I ask you to forgive me.  Jesus, I know that you served me by dying for me and I know that you rose again, so I ask you into my life, as my leader.  I accept the forgiveness that you freely give.  Thank you for giving me life.  Help me now to live for you. Amen.
