Men and Women,
Part 2
Today:
God’s Character Stamp on Women
March 28, 2004
1)
God has stamped our character with His character in many ways. One of the
strongest in women is the area of NURTURING.
Isaiah 49:15-16a “Can a mother forget the baby
at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may
forget, I will not forget you! 16 See, I have engraved you on the
palms of my hands…
Matthew 23:37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and
stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children
together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not
willing.
Phillipians 2:13 …for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good
purpose.
Three
types of relationships out there: replenishing, neutral, and DRAINING. Be sure to find a balance.
2
Corinthians 6:14 Do
not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and
wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?
1
Corinthians 7:13 And if a woman has a husband who is not a believer and he is
willing to live with her, she must not divorce him.
So,
the key to staying strong and in a place where you can nurture: Spend TIME ALONE
with God!
Luke
5:16 But
Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
2)
Another area that God seems to have stamped women with His character is in the
area of INTUITION.
Definition:
The act or faculty of knowing or sensing without the use of rational processes.
Proverbs
31:10-31 A
wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than
rubies.
11 Her husband has full
confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not
harm,
all the days of her life.
15 She gets up while it is still
dark;
she provides food for her
family
and portions for her servant
girls.
16 She considers a field and
buys it;
out of her earnings she
plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work
vigorously;
her arms are strong for her
tasks.
20 She opens her arms to the
poor
and extends her hands to the
needy.
25 She is clothed with strength
and dignity;
she can laugh at the days to
come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
and faithful instruction is
on her tongue.
28 Her children arise and call
her blessed;
her husband also, and he
praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and
beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the
LORD is to be praised.
Romans
6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
A prayer to begin a relationship with Christ: Jesus
Christ, I admit to you that I am messed up. I realize today that I am not
living my life for you. I turn from my sin. I realize my sin has offended you.
I ask for the forgiveness that you freely give. I turn to you, Christ, and ask
you to take control of me. I give you everything I am and everything I will be.
Please take charge of my life. Amen.
Come back NEXT week as we look at some of the deepest needs of women…
