Message Notes
Cheer Up! - Encouraging Your Family

Colossians 3:21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged.

1) Encourage them by the power of your BLESSING.
Mark 10:13-16 People were bringing little children to Jesus to have him touch them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, put his hands on them and blessed them.

2) Encourage them by starting each day with a "CLEAN SLATE" towards them.
Colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.
Ephesians 4:26b Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry…

3) Encourage them with your WORDS.
Proverbs 12:25 An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.

Proverbs 15:1 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Proverbs 25:11 A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.

Matthew 12:36 But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.

James 1:26 If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.

4) Encourage them with your ACTIONS.
1 John 3:18 Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.

Mark 9:36 He took a little child and had him stand among them. Taking him in his arms, he said to them, 37 “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.”

5) Encourage them by helping them get an "ETERNAL PERSPECTIVE."

1 Thessalonians 3:2-3a We sent Timothy, who is our brother and God’s fellow worker  in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith, 3 so that no one would be unsettled by these trials…

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

A prayer to begin a relationship with Christ: “Dear Jesus, I need You in my life. I want to have a real relationship with You. Today, I have realized that you created me to know you. I also realize today that I have sinned against you. Please forgive me. I turn to you and ask you to be the leader of my life. I give you my heart, my soul, my life, my past, and my future. Thank you for dying for me. Help me to live for you, now and forever. Amen.
