The Kingdom of God
Today: Getting A Kingdom Worldview
July 4, 2004
1) A Kingdom Worldview knows that God wants all people to know Him, and that they can only know Him through Christ.
John 3:16-18 "For God so loved the world that he
gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but
have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to
condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever
believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned
already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the
truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Psalm 33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD ; let all the
people of the world revere him.
2 Peter 3:8-9 But do not forget this one thing, dear
friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are
like a day. 9The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some
understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but
everyone to come to repentance.
Romans 6:23 For
the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
John 1:12 Yet to
all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to
become children of God—
A prayer to begin a
relationship with Christ: Dear Jesus, thank you for proving your love for me by dying for
me on the cross and paying for my sin.
Thank you for making a way to heaven for me. Thank you for loving me and accepting me. Today I accept you and your free gift of
forgiveness. Please forgive me for my sins. I want to follow you and I want to
love you and I want to get to know you. I turn to you and ask you to be the leader
of my life. In Your name I pray. Amen.
2) A Kingdom Worldview knows that the entire earth and all it contains belong to God. God’s Kingdom, therefore, is meant to be a worldwide endeavor, not a regional thing.
Psalm 24:1-2 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in
it, the world, and all who live in it; 2 for he founded it upon the
seas and established it upon the waters.
Luke 13:20-21 Again he asked, "What shall I compare the kingdom of
God to? 21It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into a large
amount of flour until it worked all through the dough."
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be
preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end
will come.
3) A Kingdom Worldview knows that the Christians of the world have a commanded responsibility to take the Gospel to all the nations, regardless of the cost.
Matthew 28:18-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and
of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have
commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the
age."
Acts 1:8-9 But you will receive power when the Holy
Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." 9After he
said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from
their sight.
Romans 10:13-15 for, "Everyone who calls on the name
of the Lord will be saved.” 14How, then, can they call on the one
they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they
have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And
how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful
are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Mark 8:35 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever
loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.
Luke 18:28-30 Peter
said to him, "We have left all we had to follow you!"
29"I tell you the truth," Jesus said to them, "no one
who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of
the kingdom of God 30will fail to receive many times as much in this
age and, in the age to come, eternal life."
Bottom Line: AT
FOSM, we believe that we must do OUR PART to take the Gospel to the
nations. We seek to accomplish that by being involved in world missions
wherever God leads us, and by adopting at least one unreached people group on
the planet and taking the Gospel to them.
