The Kingdom of God
The Kingdom Assignment: What
We’ve Learned
August 15, 2004
What we’ve learned...
1) Everything belongs to God
Psalm
24:1 The earth is the LORD's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live
in it…
2) A lot of the time, we have to act to see God move in our
lives
Judges
7:19-22a Gideon and the hundred men with him reached the edge of the camp at
the beginning of the middle watch, just after they had changed the guard. They
blew their trumpets and broke the jars that were in their hands. 20
The three companies blew the trumpets and smashed the jars. Grasping the
torches in their left hands and holding in their right hands the trumpets they
were to blow, they shouted, "A sword for the LORD and for Gideon!" 21
While each man held his position around the camp, all the Midianites ran,
crying out as they fled.
22 When the three hundred trumpets sounded, the LORD caused the men
throughout the camp to turn on each other with their swords. The army fled
3) True joy in life comes when we are part of something
bigger than ourselves
Ephesians
2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,
which God prepared in advance for us to do.
4) God uses everyday people to do big things
Acts
4:13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were
unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these
men had been with Jesus.
5) The little things we do individually can add up to
something huge when put together
Romans 12:4-5 Just as each of
us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same
function, 5so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each
member belongs to all the others.
Romans 3:23 …for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of
God.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of
sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus
our Lord.
A prayer to begin a real relationship with God: Dear God, I want a real relationship with you. I realize that I have sinned against you and been my own boss. I turn from my sin to you, and ask you to forgive me. Jesus, I know that you died for me and rose again. So I ask you into my life, as my leader. I accept the forgiveness that you freely give. Thank you for dying for me. Help me now to live for you. Amen.
