Leaving Lust Vegas!

1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality.  All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.

 

The Solution:

The Mind, The Senses, The Heart

 

1) The Mind

 

Key: The battle over sexual sin is won or lost FAR BEFORE the temptation is actually presented to you.


Proverbs 6:25 Do not desire her beauty in your heart. Do not let her catch you with her eyes.

 

2 Corinthians 10:5  We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

2) The Senses

 

Key: Lust Vegas is an assault on the senses.  It’s your body, TAKE CONTROL!

 

a. GUARD Your Eyes
Job 31:1 I made a covenant with my eyes not to look lustfully at a girl.

 

Matthew 5:28 But I can guarantee that whoever looks with lust at a woman has already committed adultery in his heart.

b. CUT BACK the physical contact with your boyfriend or girlfriend (or anyone who isn’t your spouse).
Matthew 5:29-30 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.

c. PAY ATTENTION to Your Emotions

 

3) The Heart

 

Key: If you are not allowing God to be a part of your battle, it comes down to YOU VERSUS THE WORLD. 

 

Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…

 

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

 

·         Allow God to CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

 

Ephesians 4:22-24  You were taught to change the way you were living.  The person you used to be will ruin you through desires that deceive you.  23 However, you were taught to have a new attitude.  24You were also taught to become a new person created to be like God, truly righteous and holy.

 

Romans 3:23 …for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

 

A prayer to begin a real relationship with God: Dear God, I want a real relationship with you. I realize that I have sinned against you and been my own boss.  I turn from my sin to you, and ask you to forgive me.  Jesus, I know that you died for me and rose again.  So I ask you into my life, as my leader. I accept the forgiveness that you freely give. Thank you for dying for me.  Help me now to live for you. Amen.
