PLANNED FOR GOD’S PLEASURE
40 Days of Purpose – Part 2

Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

Matthew 22:38-39 Jesus replied: ”‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  38 This is the first and greatest commandment…

MY 1st purpose IN LIFE is to WORSHIP GOD

Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship…

1. WORSHIP is MY RESPONSE to God’s love.

2. WORSHIP is GIVING BACK to God.

Mark 12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.

GOD WANTS ME TO LOVE HIM...

THOUGHTFULLY                                                     all your mind”
PASSIONATELY          “with all your heart and with all your soul”
WITH MY ABILITIES                                   “with all your strength”

1.  WORSHIP IS FOCUSING MY ATTENTION ON GOD.
Mark 12:30 Love the Lord your God… with all your mind …

Psalm 139:1-3 O LORD, you have searched me and you know me.
2 You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. 3 You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

2. WORSHIP IS EXPRESSING MY AFFECTION TO GOD.
Mark 12:30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul…

1 John 4:19 We love because he first loved us…

Psalm 52:9a I will praise you forever for what you have done…

Psalm 147:11 the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.

Exodus 34:14 Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

Romans 6:13a Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life

3. WORSHIP IS USING MY ABILITIES FOR GOD.
Mark 12:30 Love the Lord your God …with all your strength.

Colossians 3:23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men…

Romans 12:1a Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices…

2 Corinthians 5:9 So we make it our goal to please him…

Dear God, I wouldn’t even exist if it weren’t for you.  Forgive me for all the times I think and act like You don’t matter.  Today I’ve realized You made me to love me and that the first purpose of my life is to know and love You back.  I’m amazed that You long for a relationship with me and I’m amazed You’re interested in the details of my life.  But most of all, I’m amazed You would come to earth to die for me.  I don’t understand it at all.  But I say wow!  Please forgive me, God, for not worshipping You.  I want to learn how to focus my attention on You throughout my day.  I want to turn my work into worship. I want to learn to love you with a love that You deserve, thoughtfully with my mind, passionately with my heart and soul and practically with my abilities. When I go back to work on Monday, I’m going to be working for You, doing my job as if You are the boss.”

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus, thank You for giving Your life for me.  As much as I know how, I want to give my life back to You. I want to know you and the purposes for which I was created. I turn to you and ask you to be the leader of my life. Please forgive me for the wrongs I have done against you. I ask You, Jesus Christ, to start changing me from the inside out beginning right now. In your name I pray, Amen.
