The Purpose Driven Life – Part 6

John 17:18 Jesus: “As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.”

Acts 20:24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.             

MY 5th PURPOSE IS TO share the good news, also called “evangelism.” That is my MISSION.

Acts 1:8 You will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

“Jerusalem”                            = the people closest to me
“Judea/Samaria”                     = people near but different from me
“Ends of the earth”                 = everybody else!

Ephesians 3:11 …according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.

 Jesus started the mission, we must COMPLETE it!

 COMPLETING MY MISSION

1.   I MUST SHARE WITH THOSE IN MY WORLD.
Luke 8:39 “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.

1 Peter 3:15 But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…

Colossians 4:6a Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

2.         I MUST DARE TO REACH BEYOND MY WORLD.
1 Corinthians 9:22b I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.

Matthew 25:35-36 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, ³⁶I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

3.         I MUST CARE ABOUT THE WHOLE WORLD.
Mark 16:15 He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

Mark 8:35 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it.

Acts 13:36a “For when David had served God’s purpose in his own generation, he fell asleep…

Prayer of Commitment:
Father, more than anything else, I want to fulfill the purposes you made me for.  So today, I accept this fifth purpose, my mission to tell others about you.  I want you to use me any time, any way, any place.  I want to bring others to you.  I want to serve your purpose in my generation.  And I want to be a part of what you're doing in the world.  From this day forward, I want to build my life around your eternal purposes, and I want to help our church do the same.  In your name I pray.  Amen.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Jesus, thank you for giving your life for me.  As much as I know how, I want to give my life back to you. I want to know you and the purposes for which I was created. I turn to you and ask you to be the leader of my life. Please forgive me for the wrongs I have done against you. I ask you, Jesus Christ, to start changing me from the inside out beginning right now. In your name I pray, Amen.
